We have been concentrating on getting the kitchen done, so we can move in. However, it would be nice to have a place to relax once we do move in, so Ryan and his dad focused on the family room this past weekend.
They drywalled over the old plaster, and laid the subfloor. My dad did the first layer of mud and tape on the seams and corners, and I filled all the nail holes. Hopefully by this weekend we will be ready to paint and lay the floor.
My dad came over new years eve, and him and Ryan finished up redoing the wall and door in front of the furnace. My dad reframed the wall, added a vent that extended out to the wall, so the vent cover was flush wit the wall. He also bought us a new bifold louver door, which will allow ventilation. Once the area is all done we won’t see into the area, and it will have a more professional appearance.
Where we wanted to place our refrigerator is no longer possible after the wall was bumped out for the plumbing. The space wasn’t deep enough now, and I didn’t want to spend the money on a counter depth refrigerator. So, one of the workers came back out last Thursday and moved the water line, and added an additional outlet. It was moved from the far right to the far left of the wall.
Ryan’s uncle came over on Saturday and installed our cabinets!!!
They look so good, and will look even better when painted. It’s really starting to look like a house again.
We are on the home stretch now. Ryan took off all of next week, so we can get it wrapped up. The granite guys came out today and measured, and that will be the last thing needed to be installed to be able to move back in. We are so close . . . .
