As my family knows, I LOVE a good themed kids birthday party.  RJ has been obsessed with construction vehicles these past few months, so that was my inspiration for his party.  It all started with the invitation that I found inspiration from Pinterest, and designed in publisher.

Sometimes the hardest thing to figure out is the food.  I always like to do themed food, so playing off the construction theme I did a build your own taco bar.

This was probably one of the easiest food options to do, as there aren’t too many components, just the shells, meat, and toppings.

If you are looking for a different and really good sauce, I highly recommend this avocado and cilantro crema. It is what the green stuff is in the squirt bottle, and it is soooo good!!!

Next came the cake.  My sister loves to make cakes, and she is really good at it. I decided on a 6″ 3 layer chocolate cake, and vanilla cupcakes.  The cake we kept fairly simple and used small construction toys to decorate and used the cake crumbs as the dirt.

The cupcake toppers we made out of fondant in the shapes of construction hats and cones. This played off the bottom of the invitation that had the pattern of construction hats and cones.

The birthday boy LOVED his cake!

I kept the other decorations pretty simple.  Caution tape going into the party area.

A few tables with orange table clothes and caution tape and a Happy Birthday sign.  The birthday boy sat in his chair surrounded by his presents and balloons.
